So, since there wasn't a podcast last week, and all, I guess I'll share my thoughts on what I did pick up...Except Batman, because I'm not going to steal that thunder from Dan. And Demon Knights was Eh...And I think I got something else, but lord if I can remember. So we're stuck with Daredevil #22.

Marvel-ous Reviews

Since we are on break for Thanksgiving, we here at Panel by Panel (Just me mostly) will be doing something a little special. Welcome to Marvel-ous Reviews.

Marvel gets very little love on our podcast. We admit that. Most of this comes from that: Dan is an avid Batman fan, James got into comics with the new 52, and Garrett is...well Garrett is just Garrett. So for our Thanksgiving away, let's look at a few of the Marvel Books that came out on 11/21/2012. These are quick reviews, lacking any spoilers, and a quick rating for each.

Pulls for 08/015/2012

That time of the week again, where because I have nothing particularly awesome to talk about from this weeks pulls I'm going to prattle on about all of them. And expect a rant. Just saying. So what have we got on the plate this week. Well Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Daredevil, and Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe. The Spider-Man books will be discussed at a later time.

Amazing Reads: Daredevil Volume 3 #16

Alright, so we get to the other reason behind Amazing Reads. Discussing the latest comics that I really like that I don't get to on the podcast. I believe I said this would be for the Spider-Man books, but the other Marvel book I grab is Daredevil. Now you may ask why I'm not doing Amazing Spider-Man 690, or Avenging Spider-Man #10. Or even Peter Parker Spider-Man 156.1. The first two is easy, I haven't read them yet. Peter Parker I just realized came out, so...don't have that one yet. 

But today we talk about Mark Waid's Daredevil. And for those who haven't read anything I've done thus far, this will be spoiler heavy. I would suggest right now you go and get this book. Read it. It's a weird jumping on point, since it's the conclusion to an arc, but it provides the backstory to Matt's Character early on, and...well, it's damn fine reading.

Another week, another screw up

It seems to be how things work here, we can't seem to get a podcast out every week like we would like. So here is just a quick look at what we pulled, and some brief thoughts. Remember, spoilers as always.


All-Star Western:
Arkham is the best addition to this book. He spends most of the opening getting high on opiates and getting hookers. When caught, he claims in the name of medicine. Jonah while this goes on, gets in fights, joins a cause, and is betrayed by that cause. Of course, he was going to betray that cause in the first place, but that is neither here nor there.


Green Lantern: New Guardians:
Arkillo finds out what happens to the Sinestro Corps. We find out how we'll keep a yellow lantern in this book. Nothing much else, sadly.

Justice League Dark/I Vampire:
Both of these bad boys together. They are a continuing story of the rise of Cain, and it's pretty badass. I don't want to give to much away, because I recommend these books over most others, but be assure, Constantine is a prick, and we love him for it. Andrew Bennet will rise again, and he will be awesome. Otherwise, pick up these books.

Daredevil:
While Dan has his new Marvel favorite in Scarlet Spider, mine is Daredevil. I picked up the first issue of Mark Waid's run on the book and loved it instantly, and dug around for the past month finding all the back issues. I can't recommend this series enough. But this issue is the conclusion to the Omega Effect, a story that spanned Avenging Spider-Man, and the Punisher. It's a good conclusion to the story, and I would advice people to get the other books. I've also gotten interested in the Punisher, so I will get back to you next month on whether that's any good.

I know Dan probably has more he'd like to talk about, so I'll see what he wants to say, and this will be that place holder for whatever he has.

Event Fever:
Avengers vs. X-Men. Yay. This event so far is a mixed bag for me. The premise is a little lame, Scott's an ass and a half, and Wolverine is all emo whiny bitch. But this week is tie-in week, and so we look at those. Most are barely tie-ins. And I'll be honest, I haven't read Secret Avengers yet, and that is a legit Tie-in. Uncanny X-Men was alright, but having not read X-Men in so long, Juggernaut Colossus is just weird. So we will talk about what is my favorite book of the series so far. A vs X. The fight book.
For those who don't know, there is a fight book. a once a month bare knuckle brawl fight book. And it's stupid. Soooo stupid it's hilarious. Of course one should remember that these fight books aren't technically in continuity with the regular book, and if you look at both fights provided, Magneto vs. Ironman, and The Thing vs Namor, you will see they don't quite match up to the regular event book.
But the opening text of the book basically goes, screw continuity, this is for fun. And boy is it fun.

Pick of the week.
James: It's so hard to choose. even the books I didn't talk about were fun. But if I'll be honest, I will probably get more enjoyment out of the sheer stupidity of A vs. X then most of these other books, so if you want just a constant laugh at bad, get that book.
